I have served as your fire chief since 1979, and have found it to be a very rewarding experience. I have watched this fire district take the form of a mature community, with all the amenities necessary to support our lifestyles. Schools, churches and shopping centers have emerged where once stood empty land begging for a future. We currently support a population of about 50,000 citizens in a fifty square mile area.
There has been a price to pay for this lifestyle however. With growth comes an increased demand for public service. Your once all-volunteer fire department is now a state-of-the-art emergency service provider. Operating out of seven fire stations throughout the fire district, we deliver fire, rescue, hazardous material, disaster, and emergency medical services twenty-four hours a day.
To meet these service demands, we had to stay abreast of change, and expand with the community. I am proud to say that you have the best emergency service available, funded with one of the lowest tax rates in the area. Just in the last few years, we have built three new fire stations and added new fire and medic vehicles without any increase in taxes. In addition, our fire district operates four paramedic units for less tax dollars than some surrounding communities without paramedic service.
As a team, your Board of fire commissioners and I are committed to maintaining your fire and emergency medical service at a level that is second to none. When you dial 911 and request help, we will always be there for you. We want you to count on that promise............
