Fire District 7 provides aid/medic transport to all citizens within the fire district and the City of Mill Creek. All patients who require transport to a hospital or medical facility receive emergency care and transport to their hospital of choice or the hospital that is most appropriate for their condition.

Emergency treatment and transport are provided for both basic life support (BLS) and advanced life support (ALS). Patients are treated by Firefighter/EMT's and Firefighter/Paramedics from our fire district. Patients with non-life threatening illness or injury are transported by a BLS ambulance. Patients with life-threatening illness or injury, such as a cardiac problem or major trauma from an accident, are transported by an ALS ambulance.

Do you have a question concerning a statement you received?
Give us a call at 360-282-3964.

Our Transport Billing Office (TBO) also completes all of the billing for medical transports for Snohomish County Fire District numbers: 3,5,7,17,19,26, and 28, and the City of Bothell.  The TBO is committed to creating a working relationship with the Patient, Fire District, and Insurance companies.

Why Am I Seeing A Bill/Shouldn’t My Insurance Pay For This?
The TBO understands that during the time when a patient is receiving care from EMT/Paramedics, the last thing anyone wants/needs to worry about is a bill.  That is why often, a patient who is transported will have his/her insurance carrier billed, if the medical record release form is signed and insurance information has been provided; without any further contact.  If either the insurance information and/or a records release signature were not obtained, a statement will be sent to the patient with a request for additional information.

The TBO is more than happy to bill your insurance for you, and often times it is quicker if the billing is completed by the TBO.  If you need a copy of our Billing Authorization Form or Insurance Information Form just print the necessary page(s), complete it, and submit to:

Transport Billing Office
PO Box 12383
Mill Creek, WA. 98082

You may also fax the form to 360-282-3947, or scan and email it to, billing@firedistrict7.com.

Does Medicare And/Or Medicaid Cover My Transport?
As long as Medicare and/or Medicaid deem the transport medically necessary, they will pay for your transport.  All you need to do is make sure that the Billing Authorization form and Insurance Information form are completed and submitted to the TBO.

For Medicare simply write Medicare in the box for the name of the insurance company and list your ID number from your Medicare card in the box asking for policy number/ID number.  You do not need to list the address.

If you have WA state Medicaid:

  • If you are covered by Community Health or Molina, please list this as the name of the insurance and use the number on the specific Insurance card, NOT your PIC number on the green and white coupon.
  • If you have straight Medicaid please list Medicaid as the insurance name and write in the PIC number that is in the green and white grid on your coupon.

Don’t My Tax Dollars Pay For My Transport?
Many of the fire districts have a program of “insurance only” billing for residents of its fire district.  This program allows the fire district to bill the insurance carrier(s) of the patient transported and accept the payment the carrier(s) makes as “payment in full”.  This means the fire district waives any deductible or co-payment for the insured resident and treats local taxes paid as “out of pocket” expense for the transport.  This program has been approved by the Office of the Inspector General within the Department of Social & Health Services.  Please call our office if you have any questions regarding this practice or are unsure if you qualify as a resident of one of these districts.

What If I Don’t Have Insurance, Or Am Not A Qualifying Resident Of The District That Transported Me?
There are often additional resources that can help.   If you have any questions or concerns regarding your bill or a personal hardship that makes addressing your transport bill difficult, contact the Transport Billing Office.
Additional Resources include:

    • Washington State DSHS: http://hrsa.dshs.wa.gov/HRSAClient.htm
    • Financial Assistance from the hospital you were transported to
    • Writing a letter to the Board of Fire Commissioners/City Council explaining your circumstances.
